At DLG Legal Services, our mission is to make law easy and accessible to everyone. As part of the Direct Line Group, we provide legal services to over 50,000 DLG customers each year. Customers can access our Legal Advice Line team and our growing list of services includes personal injury, employment, property, inheritance, and contract litigation. We also support our parent group, litigating on their behalf.
The team are taking on more responsibilities which means we now have a new and exciting opportunity for Technical Litigation Lead to join our Bromley based team, on 21 Months Fixed Term Contract basis.
What are we looking for?
Reporting to Motor Damage team Leader, you will be responsible for technical legal supervision and support to a team providing claimant legal services ensuring the provision of accurate, high quality and compliant advice and supporting the professional development of the team through technical coaching and the dissemination of specialist knowledge.
What the role involves?
1. Working collaboratively and flexibly with other Technical Leads to provide technical support and supervision across your function to ensure the provision of a high quality and compliant service.
2. Acting as a subject matter expert on relevant areas of law, applying legal knowledge and experience to help fellow team members deal with novel and/or complex situations.
3. Supporting the development of technical legal knowledge and expertise across your function through coaching, functional and individual training needs analysis and, in conjunction with HR and/or the Legal Practice team, facilitate and deliver technical training and development interventions.
4. Inputting into the management and development of fellow team member performance regarding the quality and compliance of their work and on their technical knowledge and development.
5. Identifying technical training/coaching needs following audit reports to address any areas of concern and, in conjunction with other Technical Leads and the Legal Practice team, advise on how best to address any identified areas of non-compliance to minimise risk and cost.
6. Proactively keeping up to date with developments in relevant areas of law, knowledge sharing within Technical Lead community.
7. Contributing to creating and maintaining a high-quality of employee experience and engagement by helping fellow team members to optimise their technical performance and development.
8. Role modelling the desired work ethic, customer focus, commerciality and values both behaviourally and through the content of the technical advice and support provided.
9. Providing technical support and input into any change design and implementation to ensure opportunities for improvement are optimised and that technical compliance/standards are not compromised.
10. Contributing to the proactive management of risk across the function, with a particular focus on those risks associated with standards of legal practice and regulatory compliance.
Skills and Qualities you will need:
* Solicitor or Legal Executive or have experience at an equivalent level.
* A track record of mentoring, coaching or having held a supervisory role is desirable.
* Proven track record of achieving targets.
* Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
Contract: 21 Months Fixed Term Contract
Location: Bromley (BR1 1DP)
Hybrid working: 2 days in Bromley office, 3 days from home
Hours: 35 Hours (Monday - Friday)
