Shorterm are currently looking to recruit an Associate Structural Engineer on behalf of their client who have offices in Teesside, Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham.
This is a full-time permanent position offering hybrid working options from the offices above.
This position would be working on an exciting project within transmission and distribution.
Our client is looking for professionals with experience working on large energy transmission and distribution projects, but experience in large energy projects and heavy industrial projects would also be considered as an asset, as these skills are easily transferable to this sector.
The Role Summary:
The Associate Structural Engineer role will sit within their Building Structures business and is responsible for the day-to-day design and project management of projects, working with a Project Manager and/or Lead Engineer role. As the Associate Structural Engineer, you will also be responsible for overseeing and managing a small number of engineers and technicians working directly on their projects. Managing their time and provide technical support to junior team members as part of their training and development.
Key Requirements and Responsibilities
1. You will be a 'Chartered Engineer', and able to demonstrate relevant post qualification experience through a range of projects.
2. Experience in large energy transmission and distribution projects would be an advantage, but experience in large energy projects and heavy industrial projects would also be considered an asset, as these skills are easily transferable to this sector.
3. Undertakes continuing professional development and reports this to institution annually.
4. Capable of running small-medium sized projects or a section of a large or technical complex project. Unless it is a significant large project, they would expect to be involved in several projects at any given time and be able to manage their time accordingly.
5. Have good written and spoken communication skills and be able to attend external project team meetings and design workshops and demonstrate a level of seniority and authority in front of clients in relation to the structural design and wider building design issues.
6. Has experience of the commercial delivery of project elements with a total / combined annual fee income of at least £200k per annum to time and budget including monthly financial reviews of WIP, forecasting and invoicing.
7. Understands the scope of contract that is in operation and supports Project Managers in substantiating variations and resolving contractual disputes.
8. Ensures that any issues with potential to impact on programme and / or scope are identified and communicated internally.
