An opportunity has arisen to appoint an ambitious and innovative individual to the position of Consultant Psychiatrist, working in our Men's secure inpatient service and Forensic Community Mental Health Team based in Ipswich.
Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of specialist mental health, psychological therapies, drugs and alcohol and learning disability services for the counties of Norfolk and Suffolk.
Secure and Forensic Services for NSFT are rated as Good by the CQC.
Main Duties of the Job
Our Forensic Mental Health Services comprises of low and medium secure inpatient services, community forensic services, and criminal justice liaison services for both counties, as well as inpatient medium secure services for the residents of Suffolk.
The roles will provide clinical care and leadership for our Forensic Men's Secure Services and the Forensic Community Mental Health Team.
The current post combines two existing part-time roles in established teams and services. The roles are arising because of a current Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr Sohail Abrar taking on senior management responsibilities and the other Suffolk based Consultant's recent retirement. The role offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to support the development of a mirroring clinical pathway within our Suffolk Services; providing part-time Consultant Psychiatrist input to our 16-bedded Male Low Secure Unit, Foxhall House, Foxhall Road, Ipswich, IP3 8LS and providing continuing support for patients after discharge through providing Consultant Leadership for our Suffolk Forensic Community Mental Health (FCMHT) Service.
