Key Accountabilities: To be responsible for all design and technical matters ensuring that best practice is set, achieved and maintained at project level both during tender/PCSA and construction stages Fully contribute to the project delivery process from a technical and design perspective Identify risk and promote strategies and alternative design solutions to mitigate Promote innovative solutions to develop strategies at tender stage Identification of value engineering opportunities Production of contractor’s proposals and technical submission Consultant appointment, including novated and directly appointed Assembly of consultant appointment documents in accordance with ESH procedures Establishing and maintaining design management procedures at each stage of the project Produce detailed package scope of works and advise on work package content suitable for delivery, evaluate and make recommendations Carrying out full technical reviews and an evaluation of all design information received during all stages (tender and construction stages) Managing the release of design information of contractor design portions and consultant design information during construction stage Production and management of the design programme and information required schedule Establishing and managing a sample approval strategy and open items list Providing design reports on a monthly basis for inclusion in the project report Leading design reviews for both coordination and ER compliance Ensure third party approvals are obtained Identification and management of change Be the first point of contact for the client for design issues Chairing and driving all design workshops and meetings Skills & Experience: Preference for experience in multi sector projects with a Architectural bias The candidate will typically have undertaken a similar role in a similar sized business for a minimum of 5 years and be working towards or will have achieved a professional qualification The candidate will have demonstrated a sound approach to managing the design process across a wide spectrum of procurement routes and will be able to evidence having managed a function or project team in this discipline The ability to have multi project experience covering more than one scheme at any one time, covering new build, refurbishment and fit out across recognised sectors Experience of technology-based tools and methods such as BIM and CAD systems is advantageous Experienced in both single stage and two stage procurement processes including knowledge of all forms of construction contract Able to take lead role as design manager during pre-construction or construction as business needs dictate A provider of design solutions and should have strong communication and presentation skills Complete development risk reviews Ability to undertake consultant reviews on projects The ability to review design documents to identify where gaps are missing, or details are not coordinated General Responsibilities: The Group is committed to achieving a high standard of Health and Safety in all its activities and the post holder will be expected to contribute to maintaining standards to ensure compliance with all appropriate legislation Qualifications and Skills: Recognised construction related qualification Familiarity with office systems and Viewpoint Has a “can do/ will do” attitude Is punctual and reliable To work safely and efficiently Keeps people informed of progress on key tasks Polite and approachable always Takes responsibility for managing own performance and personal development Conducts themselves in a courteous and professional manner Communicates clearly and appropriately It is not possible for this document to totally encompass or define all tasks that may be required of the post holder.
