We are recruiting new Project Managers to manage projects up to £1 million relating to alterations and refurbishments on the University’s estate. These roles are linked to the delivery of the Condition Survey and Long-Term Maintenance plan that is funded at £10m per year for 10 years. Example of projects include: LED replacement lighting, replacing fluorescent, incorporating controls Office refurbishments Fire compartmentation project to meet Building Safety Act. Fire door replacements About you You will work closely with colleagues in the Department of Campus Infrastructure as well as construction and engineering professionals, and will be responsible for procuring, contracting and delivering services either through in-house labour or through external contractors. You will: Lead the planning and implementation of projects ensuring that the University’s safety and project management processes are followed Define projects' scope and goals and ensure that they are agreed and understood by stakeholders Plan and schedule project timelines and deliver within them Coordinate project staff including in-house resources, external consultants and contractors/ sub-contractors, procure (with the University Procurement team) and contract as necessary Plan resources and allocation, including liaison with key stakeholders Be familiar with and follow all relevant legislation You should have: Extensive experience effectively managing a variety of construction projects Understanding of the legal and practical aspects of NEC and JCT contracts, asbestos, construction, mechanical/electrical service installations Applied understanding of the principles of project management and quantity surveying A project management qualification or suitable degree are desirable, but not essential.
