Greater London Authority, one of our largest public sector organisations based in London are seeking to recruit a Communications and Press Officer to provide comprehensive communications, research, casework, and information support to Green Party Assembly Members. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong background in press, media relations, journalism, social media, policy briefing within a political or public sector organisation and who are adept at managing diverse and high-profile stakeholder interactions in a dynamic environment. Hourly Rate: £21.61 per hour via PAYE or £27.48 per hour via Umbrella Location: Hybrid - Remote / City Hall, London, E16 (3 days from office and 2 days from home Job Type: Contract – 3 months (possibilities of further extensions to cover secondment till end of December 2025) Key responsibilities: To provide core research and policy briefings, advice and support to the Green Party Assembly Members across the range of their GLA functions. To provide pro-active public affairs support to the Green Party Assembly Members, including producing policy or constituency issue reports to publication standard. To act as the first point of contact for the allocated Green Party Assembly Members for all people within and without the organisation, representing the views and interests of the Member(s) in an effective and professional manner, and dealing with a wide range of internal and external people and organisations. To manage all correspondence (including electronic) and casework received by the Member concerned as required. To take primary responsibility for the co-ordination of the given Green Party Assembly Members work for Assembly meetings (such as the submission of questions for Mayor’s Question Time, and motions), in liaison with the Team Manager other colleagues. Required Skills & Qualifications: Demonstrable research skills with a proven ability to quickly assimilate information from various sources on a wide range of policy topics. Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of producing various documents for different audiences under tight deadlines. Experience in media-related document production and briefing for media interviews. Experience working with high-profile individuals in a pressured environment, handling confidential/sensitive issues.
