Scottish Borders Council is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Community Engagement Officer to join its Communities and Partnerships team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with officers and partners to support strategic community engagement, consultation and delivery, as required in accordance with agreed national and local policies and strategies e.g. Community Planning, Place Making, Food Growing, Climate Change, Biodiversity and the wider Sustainable Development agenda, Employability, and funding opportunities.
As a Community Engagement Officer, you will work across the Scottish Borders to support community organisations, projects, and community councils. You will provide flexible and responsive assistance in creating plans, designing projects, securing the best funding sources, and helping communities deliver successful, impactful initiatives.
Your role will include significant involvement in Place Making, working closely with Scottish Borders communities and council officers from departments such as Planning and Economic Development. You will collaborate with community town teams, consultants, and council partners like Borders Community Action and South of Scotland Enterprise to deliver place plans, town investment plans, and support communities in achieving a thriving, sustainable local environment. You will help guide these communities towards a successful Place Making experience by ensuring they have the tools, resources, and partnerships needed for long-term positive impact.
Essential
A relevant degree or professional/management qualification or equivalent experience in this field.
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.*
