We have an exciting opportunity for you to join one of Britain’s top state schools. Judged Outstanding in all aspects by OFSTED in May 2024. We are seeking an inspirational teacher who has the ability to engage, enthuse and motivate able pupils. You will be passionate about learning and able to demonstrate a range of behaviour management strategies and teaching skills. You will possess excellent communication skills to teach throughout the age range including A’ level.
The Physics department consists of five teaching staff, including the Head of Department and a dedicated Physics technician. The department has 5 laboratories and an office/preparation room. The team is supportive, collaborative, and friendly. Physics is a very popular A-level with around 150 students currently studying it, and so a candidate with experience/ability to teach A-level Physics is desirable. The majority of students go on to study at Russell Group universities with many choosing Engineering/Physics. We have a good track record of success in the Physics Olympiad and students going on to study at Oxbridge.
We encourage applications from ECTs or experienced teachers to join a department which:
1. consistently delivers outstanding outcomes for young people and is hungry for further success. Exam results for 2024 were 83% grades A*-B (A-level) and 86% grades 7-9 (GCSE), with 37% of students attaining a grade 9.
2. has a friendly, supportive, talented, hard-working teaching team.
3. has a strong commitment to the extra-curricular life of the school.
In return, we can offer:
1. the opportunity to work with highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic students.
2. a superbly resourced department for delivering practical work and demonstrations.
3. the ability to teach within specialism – students study separate sciences from Year 7 to Year 11.
4. commitment to continuing professional career development and support.
5. the opportunity to work in a caring and nurturing environment and to get involved in a broad spectrum of extra-curricular activities.
