Job Description

We are looking for a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join our Clinical Health Psychology and Neuropsychology Service. This particular post is linked to the Renal Medicine team based at the Royal Devon University Hospital (RDUH), in Exeter.
Main Duties of the Job
The role is dynamic and challenging. The post holder would work closely with the Renal Service including another Clinical Psychologist, Consultant Specialists and Specialist Nurses. They will also be part of the wider Clinical Health Psychology & Neuropsychology services to the RDUH Hospital both in Exeter and North Devon sites. There is a strong commitment across the Devon Partnership NHS Trust and the RDUH to develop integrated services for patients with acute and long term conditions.
The post involves working alongside the other psychologist in the renal service to deliver assessments and individual psychological therapies for people at every stage of renal ill-health. You will have the opportunity to contribute to MDT meetings, department referral allocation meetings, work with other professionals and be involved in delivering group interventions.
Job Purpose
The principle purpose of the job is to improve the psychological health & wellbeing of people who attend Renal Services at the Royal Devon University Hospital (RDUH). This will be achieved by:
* Supporting the systematic provision of a high quality psychological service in specialist fields of practice.
* Carrying out specialist psychological assessments with donors and recipients regarding kidney transplants.
* Managing a specialist caseload of clients for assessment and intervention, providing advice and consultancy to patients, family members, carers and professionals.
* Working autonomously within professional guidelines and supporting the systematic governance of psychological practice.
* Receiving regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance with Trust policy.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (D.Clin.Psychol. or equivalent) and eligible for Chartered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist Status in the British Psychological Society.
* Registered with HCPC.
Desirable
* Further training in related area.
* Further training in at least one (other) psychological therapy.
Skills and Abilities

* Ability to integrate complex data and make highly skilled evaluations and decisions.
* Proven organisational, planning and time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and use initiative within a service consisting of a network of teams.

Experience
Essential
* Broad knowledge of specialist services and of the services in the NHS where psychology is commonly applied.
* Experience and/or training in diversity awareness and social inequality.
* Proficiency in both individual and group therapy approaches.
Desirable
* Experience of working with complex trauma and with systems working around people who have experienced trauma.
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings.
* Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
