An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacy technician to join our dynamic, innovative, and friendly Clinical Pharmacy Team based at the Sutton Site. This will provide you an opportunity to develop your leadership skills and gain invaluable management experience for a rewarding career.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the in-patient dispensary service provision and delivering an efficient and accurate clinical pharmacy service to the Day Units. In addition, you will also participate in medicines reconciliation, supporting stock management, counselling patients and general dispensary duties, including dispensing and accuracy checking.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be organised, motivated, have excellent communication skills and be able to adapt quickly to new situations. Registration as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) is essential as well as holding the ACPT accreditation and a nationally recognised medicines optimisation accreditation course.

Main duties of the job
Ensure service provisions of the pharmacy in-patient dispensary and day units are coordinated to a high standard and developed, according to the needs of the Trust
Monitor relevant key performance indicators accurately through audit and report on weekly/monthly basis e.g. workload turnaround times, error monitoring, workload figures.
Be responsible for staff allocation in response to changing workload and service delivery requirements. Duties include ensuring that relevant rotas for clinical service delivery are developed and adhered to e.g. day-to-day tasks, evening and weekend shifts are covered.
To support other band 6 lead clinical pharmacy technicians on the operational delivery of the medicine’s optimisation services across clinical services, with the support of the team of clinical technicians
To support and drive the implementation of initiatives to improve patient experience related to medicines
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Responsible for leading, managing, and co-ordinating the clinical pharmacy team in the daily running of the in- patient dispensary and day units.
2. Be an active member of the Clinical Services Team, participating in all operational activities as required.
3. Ensure appropriate levels of staff are always available, in-line with agreed frameworks for leave.
4. Meet daily operational commitments by maximising skill mix.
5. Manage and prioritise own workload; be proactive and use initiative
6. Work jointly with the Lead Pharmacy Technician – In-Patient Dispensary and Day Units at Chelsea to agree suitable deployment of staff to meet the needs of the hospital on a day-to-day- basis.
7. Work jointly with lead Pharmacy Technician – Wards at Sutton to agree suitable deployment of staff to meet the needs of the hospital on a day-to-day basis.
8. To work closely with the senior pharmacy team to ensure consistent and best practice across the Trust and develop business continuity and support arrangements as necessary.
9. To work closely with the Outpatients Team (RM Medicines), Aseptic and Research & Development Team to ensure patients receive the highest standard of service deliverance.

Essential criteria
10. •Practice supervisor/Educational supervisor certificate / Train the Trainer or equivalent
11. Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC
12. Regional Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician
13. HEE LaSE Medicine Optimisation Programme or equivalent

Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
