Accounts Assistant: Join our evolving Finance team at Ageas, dedicated to aligning processes and driving efficiency. As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely reporting to both internal and external stakeholders. Your efforts will support our month-end, quarter-end, and annual reporting processes, and ensure that calculations are precise and deadlines are met.
Main Responsibilities as Accounts Assistant:
1. Assisting in the delivery of the month end close process through, ensuring that all transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger which may include items such as (but not limited to): premium and commission accruals, claims provisions, accounting for tangible and intangible assets, reinsurance accounting entries, prepayments, and intercompany transactions.
2. Reconciling balance sheet control accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring the transactions are correct within the entity accounts.
3. To assist with reporting to Ageas Group.
4. Produce ad hoc reports and analysis to monitor business performance.
5. Maintain internal financial control processes and accurate procedural documentation.
6. Supporting the team with ad hoc queries and projects.
Skills and experience you need as Accounts Assistant:
1. Currently or looking to start studying, with a willingness to progress to a full accountancy qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
2. Good Excel skills.
3. Experience using Oracle’s E1 (general ledger) and IBM’s Cognos TM1 (reporting tool) is desirable but not essential.
4. Excellent attention to detail, and a core value set that is focused on delivering high quality outputs.
5. Excellent numerical skills and the ability to understand, evaluate and interpret financial data, identifying and looking to resolve apparent inconsistencies.
6. Strong organisational and planning skills and the ability to prioritise and timetable workflows.
7. The ability to work independently, using initiative to follow through investigations logically.
8. The ability to respect confidentiality and build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, managers and directors.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including timely and open communication and the ability to explain financial concepts to various stakeholders.
