About the Role As an Audit Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing a variety of audit assignments, working closely with both clients and junior staff. You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality service delivery, maintaining client relationships, and driving business growth. The role offers the opportunity to manage a portfolio of clients, including corporate businesses, charities, and individuals, while providing expert advice on VAT and other areas of indirect taxation. Requirements Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of audit clients, ensuring audits are conducted efficiently and effectively. Review and finalise complex VAT returns, annual adjustments, and voluntary declarations. Conduct VAT health checks on client activities, preparing detailed reports with recommendations. Advise clients on VAT treatment of transactions, including the place of supply of services, contract reviews, and property-related VAT issues. Respond to client and team VAT queries, offering timely and accurate advice. Lead and mentor junior staff, providing training and feedback to support their professional development. Manage and review client VAT compliance and resolve any disputes with HMRC. Contribute to VAT publications and thought leadership initiatives. Identify and target new business opportunities, leveraging networking, referrals, and cross-selling with other departments (audit, tax, strategic advisory). Build and maintain strong client relationships, working closely with client advisors (e.g., lawyers) to deliver comprehensive solutions. What We’re Looking For ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent), with significant experience in an accountancy practice at the Audit Manager level. In-depth knowledge of VAT issues, including VAT planning and structuring for corporate clients. Experience working with a range of clients, including corporate, charity, and individual sectors. Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex VAT issues clearly and concisely to clients and HMRC. Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
