The role:
1. Working knowledge of Design Manual for Road and Bridges (DMRB), MfS1&2, LTN1/20, including experience in their general application and local authority highway design standards;
2. Independent use of engineering software: AutoCAD (2D Design), Civil 3D (3D Design), AutoTrack, and MicroDrainage;
3. An awareness of Departures from Standard for Local Highway Authorities and Highways;
4. Preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, reports, and design documents;
5. Working knowledge of Section 278 & Section 38 legal agreements process;
6. Review of utility diversions associated with Section 278 works through an understanding of Joint Utility Guidelines, C2 & C3 Utility Diversions;
7. A clear understanding of designers' duties as required under Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015;
8. Coordinating with the transport planning team, project engineers, and engineering technicians to ensure comprehensive delivery of service;
9. Exposure to Project Management and client communication;
10. Prepare client briefs and proposals for submission, as well as contributing to companywide bids and framework applications;
11. Commissioning, preparation of, and designers response inputs to optioneering studies, GG104 Risk Assessment, GG142 walking, cycling and horse-riding assessment, GG119 road safety audits;
12. Contribute towards our business targets.
What you need to succeed:
1. Formal education in either Civil Engineering or experience in Highway Engineering disciplines;
2. Experience in the field of development-focused highway design/engineering;
3. A member (or seeking to be) of a professional membership, such as ICE or CIHT;
4. Excellent communication skills with a high standard of work ethic;
5. Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work proactively and use initiative.
