After recent investment, they have grown drastically and are looking to scale out their procurement team by implementing category management.
Your new role
As a Category Manager, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing category strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost-savings initiatives within direct spending. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of category management principles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute category strategies to optimise cost, quality, and delivery performance.
2. Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks within the assigned category.
3. Manage supplier relationships, including negotiation of contracts, performance monitoring, and issue resolution.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality, to ensure alignment of category strategies with business objectives.
5. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance category performance and achieve cost savings targets.
6. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to category management.
7. Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends to maintain a competitive edge.
What you'll need to succeed
1. Relevant qualifications (i.e. CIPS) or time-served.
2. Proven experience as a Category Manager or in a similar procurement role within a similar industry.
3. Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. The ability to work autonomously.
7. A strong understanding of data interpretation in relation to purchasing.
