In this post you will have clinical duties, however, an integral part of the post will be the supervision and teaching of training grade doctors on the shop floor. The successful applicant will work across both hospital sites, gaining experience in working in a Major Trauma Centre and tertiary centre for many hospital specialities and will be exposed to a variety of Emergency Medicine presentations.
Clinical duties will include all those normally expected of a Senior Clinical Fellow/Specialty Trainee in Emergency Medicine in the UK, and will account for the majority of the appointee’s time. In addition the appointee will be expected to take part in the formal teaching and on-going audit programmes within the directorate. Admin time will be allocated from the clinical component of the post.
The duties will include:-
·Provision of primary medical care to patients suffering recent injuries and acute medical and surgical conditions.
· Provision of primary care to patients taken ill whilst in transit through the areas and with no ability to see a primary care practitioner.
· Management of the department to maintain efficient and timely patient flow with specific reference to both local set and nationally set targets.
·Assist consultant staff in maintaining staffing levels including covering short termsickness
· Timelyreviewofpatient’sresultsandinvestigationswhenreturnedtothedepartment
