Opportunity:
A dynamic opportunity has arisen for a skilled Naval Architect / Marine Engineer to contribute to critical naval programs. You will be involved in a range of engineering tasks, from technical support to project management, while ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Support: Provide expert technical support on a range of engineering tasks, including:
1. Developing detailed technical work instructions.
2. Conducting failure analysis and solution development.
3. Performing structural and stability calculations.
4. Supporting lifting appliance certification, design, and testing.
2. Project Management: Manage and execute engineering projects, from initial planning to final delivery.
3. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant industry standards, classification society rules, and naval ship codes.
4. Collaboration: Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, naval architects, and project managers to achieve project objectives.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, or ship operations.
* Eligible for a Professional Engineer registration in British Columbia, Nova Scotia, or Ontario.
* Strong technical writing and communication skills.
* Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools.
* Experience with project management methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with the design and certification of shipboard lifting appliances (Marine cranes).
* Experience in project management of ship repair and engineering change projects.
* Knowledge of weight and stability calculations and lightship surveys.
* Familiarity with defense contract requirements.
