Junior Telecoms Engineer Location: Dummer, Basingstoke Salary: £27,000 As a Junior Telecoms Engineer, you will play a key role in the installation and maintenance of hosted telephone systems and structured cabling for clients across the UK. This is a hands-on technical role that involves troubleshooting, problem-solving, and working closely with other engineers to deliver high-quality telecom solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in IT and networking, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to travel and work in varied environments. Key Responsibilities - Work closely with and report to a Senior Engineer, assisting with installations and troubleshooting. - Learn on the job by gaining hands-on experience in real-life installation environments. - Assist in and complete the installation of structured cabling, hosted telephone systems and network equipment. - Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to telecoms and network installations. - Train customers on their new telephone systems and technology, ensuring they understand how to use them effectively. - Maintain and take responsibility for a company-supplied van, ensuring it is well-kept and stocked with necessary tools and equipment. - Follow health and safety guidelines and adhere to company standards during all installations. - Travel to customer sites across the UK, with occasional overnight stays as required. - Diary management and understanding where future jobs are located and what may be required for each site. Skills & Experience - Positive can-do attitude. - Proven problem-solving attitude. - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. - A background or interest in IT, networking or telecommunications. - Hands-on experience with cabling, hardware, or technical troubleshooting is a plus. - Previous telecoms experience is desirable but not essential we ll provide full training. - High level of attention to detail with ability to think clearly and analytically. - Strong organisational, planning, and time management skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Multi-tasker with ability to juggle multiple responsibilities. - Ability to work away from home on occasions. - Someone not afraid of early starts or late finishes when required. - A full UK driving license (essential).
