Job Title: Maths Lead Teacher

Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Maths Lead Teacher to join a secondary provision in the East Lancashire area, working with pupils aged 11-16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time, temporary to permanent role, starting in April 2025, for an experienced and passionate Maths teacher who is ready to take on a leadership role within a supportive and dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Maths department, ensuring high-quality delivery of the curriculum for pupils with SEMH needs.
* Plan and deliver engaging, tailored Maths lessons for secondary students (ages 11-16), focusing on their individual learning needs.
* Develop and implement strategies to engage students and overcome barriers to learning.
* Provide support and mentorship to other members of the department and contribute to professional development.
* Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and adapting lessons as needed.
* Collaborate with other staff to support the social, emotional, and academic development of pupils.
* Lead by example in promoting high expectations of behaviour and academic achievement.
Key Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Proven experience as a Maths teacher with a strong understanding of the curriculum.
* Previous experience in a lead or management role, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
* Strong knowledge of SEMH and experience in working with students who face emotional and behavioural challenges.
* Excellent planning, organisational, and leadership skills.
* A commitment to delivering a high standard of education while supporting students’ social and emotional growth.
Desirable:
* Experience in leading a department or team within a secondary school or alternative provision.
* Understanding of strategies and interventions to support pupils with SEMH.
