Role Overview
We are looking for a Legal Counsel, reporting to the senior legal counsel, to provide high quality legal support to our PIC, ABS and R&D groups in EMEAR and Asia (excluding China).
You will have primary accountability for supporting the commercial activities of our various business groups’ ongoing legal needs.
You will have a good understanding of corporate and commercial law, in particular relating to issues in contract and protection of confidentiality, and a general understanding of the law relating to M&A, intellectual property and data privacy.
You will need to be located within commuting distance of our Stapeley office working 1-2 days per week from the office and the rest of the time from home.
You Will
* Review and draft a wide range of commercial contracts (distribution agreements, licences, collaboration agreements, confidentiality agreements, supply agreements and so on).
* Provide advice and guidance to PIC, ABS, IntelliGen and central teams on structuring of commercial transactions, pre-contractual discussions, negotiations on contractual terms, and decision-making in relation to termination or extension of commercial arrangements.
* Ensure the internal clients meet their business objectives whilst being in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
* Work with other members of the legal team to support strategic corporation acquisitions and Genus group level projects.
* Uphold the Genus core values, mission and vision.
* Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours.
* Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
* Will work closely with Senior Legal Counsel for EMEAR and Asia, as well as other members of the legal team, commercial operations, and various functions such as R&D, business development, human resources, and supply chain.
Requirements
* High academic achievement in the study of law.
* Professional training in corporate and commercial law, gained at a highly regarded law firm.
* At least 3+ years of relevant post qualification legal experience.
* In-house experience helpful, but not required.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including business and legal writing.
* Practical issue-spotting and problem-solving skills.
* Good time management skills.
* Ability to work independently to take ownership of projects, and also work collaboratively with the legal team and business teams.
* Organised and detail-oriented.
* Skilled with MS Word, PowerPoint and legal databases (e.g., Westlaw / Practical Law).
