An opportunity has arisen for a Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) coordinator to join our Cancer services department working on our Macmillan unit supporting the clinical teams to coordinate and schedule chemotherapy / Immunotherapy and cancer support treatment bookings. The service runs from a cancer centre Macmillan suite supporting both the clinical team, patients and their families to coordinate and schedule treatments.
We are looking for an experienced administrator who can demonstrable good IT skills and customer care skills. We are looking for someone who can function well in a team as well as under their own initiative and who can respond to changing service priorities with this patient group.
You will deliver and support high standards of care through the support and education of the wider workforce. We are looking for a staff member who will continually develop the service to enable patients to be seen quickly in the right environment to offer best practice and good patient experience.

To be a member of the Cancer Centre Day care Unit team and provide comprehensive administrative support to the Nurses and Service based at the MKUH.
Be responsible for independent scheduling of new patient referrals for systemic anti-cancer treatment (formerly known as chemotherapy), in accordance with the needs of the service and with direction from the Senior Sister or Sisters of day-care unit.
Learn all the other processes underpinning the delivery of chemotherapy, referral of patients for a named group of procedures to other teams, *e.g., district nurses) to enable participation in cover arrangements of any team member, at times of training, annual leave, sick or leave vacancy.
This rapidly expanding modern and busy service offers many training opportunities for their staff, recent developments have led to the opening of our cancer centre in February 2020 and the upcoming opening of the Radiotherapy centre in 2024.This developing service is supported by a forward thinking & supportive Management Team, Nurse Practitioners, Palliative Care Team & Macmillan Wellbeing and Support Centre.
We firmly believe in holistic care, with a newly established wellbeing team to enhance the recovery package for patients living with and beyond cancer. We have Citizen Advice Bureau onsite and offer a wide range of carers and patient support groups.

· Schedule all new referrals as per local procedure (most patients will attend day care unit, with a smaller group attending other sessions (e.g., bone marrow biopsies) or other treatments such as blood product support, nurse clinic. Liaise with patients via telephone to ensure that the proposed start date is amenable to them, to answer simple questions re attending Day care unit, procedures such as PICC insertion and scalp cooling and to escalate complex questions or concerns to the nursing team. To confirm in writing, all verbal information told to the patient.
· Ensure any required procedures or referrals to other members of the multi-disciplinary teams are requested and appointments confirmed in a timely manner
· e.g., PICC insertions, district nurse referrals, third party companies e.g., Healthcare at Home, Echo requests.
• Ensure booking of pre–Systemic Anti- Cancer Therapy Counselling sessions.
• To have a sensitive and compassionate manner with patients and relatives who are in various states of emotional distress in view of the delicate nature of the disease
