JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages – Spanish /French
REPORTS TO:Principal and Subject leader of MFL
JOB PURPOSE
To ensure effective delivery of the relevant programmes of study within the School in accordance with School Policies and in pursuit of high standards of pupil achievement. To assist in the implementation of all of the School policies and the School’s Pastoral programme.
RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Within the sphere of MFL to:
1. Teach throughout the School to a range of classes and ability levels in a manner that develops and supports pupils’ learning so that they achieve high levels of personal success and achievement in the subject. This will include comprehensive use of standardised and internal data.
2. Monitor, evaluate and review pupil learning programmes and their delivery in order to ensure their effectiveness and report outcomes to pupils, relevant staff, Governors and parents as requested by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
3. Develop self in order to enhance performance and thus pupil outcomes. This development to be carried out by participation in the School’s in Service Education and Training (INSET) and the Professional Review and Staff Development (PRSD) programmes as required by the HoD and/or SLT. Develop internal and external accreditation such as Hola, ICT etc.
4. Secure, monitor, develop and produce resources allocated to ensure equality and effectiveness of pupil experience.
5. Develop use of ICT to enhance learning: Active use of G Suite.
6. Work as an enthusiastic member of the department, attend department meetings; contribute to department planning including schemes of work, examinations and practical activities.
7. Undertake any reasonable duties as requested by the Principal or his appointed Deputy.
GENERAL TEACHER DUTIES
To carry out duties as detailed in the Teachers’ (Terms and Conditions of Service) Regulations (NI) 1987.
To carry out all duties in a manner in which they comply with:
a. current Health and Safety legislation.
b. the requirements of the Children’s Order.
c. the School’s security requirements.
d. the requirements of Killicomaine’s Policy Documents.
e. the requirements of the Education Authority and the Department of Education.
To act as a Form Teacher/Tutor to an assigned Form/Tutor group and to carry out related duties in accordance with the general job description of a Form Teacher/Tutor.
To carry out a share of pupil supervisory duties including school assembly in accordance with published rosters.
To participate in appropriate meetings with colleagues, parents and pupils.
To implement all School Policies and procedures. To play an active part in promoting the School’s motto “Servire Honore” and ethos “Working together for excellence in a caring community.”
These duties are not necessarily comprehensive and are subject to annual amendment by the Principal, after consultation with the post holder. The range of duties may also be varied from time to time according to the changing needs of the post and opportunities will exist for the professional development of the person appointed.

Candidate will then teach Governors part of the lesson.
