The role is Financial Systems Team (FST) Manager with responsibility for the firm's ERP system, evergreen, based on Microsoft Dynamics 365 which has been rolled out successfully into the majority of the firm's offices. It is anticipated during 2025-28 that a continued program of adoption will occur as well as continuous improvement through a Financial Improvement Plan (FIP) working alongside our key supplier SAGlobal (saglobal.com). This program includes further implementation and development of core functions, through the application of the full Microsoft suite of tools, including Copilot D365 and agentic development.
The successful candidate will work closely with SAGlobal and external consultants as well as the in-house financial systems team (FST) and IT teams in the delivery of this roll-out and manage the continuous improvement programme that the project enables.
Responsibilities
The role will primarily include, but is not limited to, the below tasks:
* Play a critical leadership role in the Financial Improvement Plan
* Contribute to the definition of scope and objectives as they affect business applications and processes
* Contribute to the solution design
* Manage the delivery of business as usual and project work for the FST teams' accountabilities (using agile delivery methods and the Asana platform for co-ordination)
* Work with IT Operations and other stakeholders to define and implement the most appropriate support and business continuity model given the tools and applications available
* Ensure an effective defect management process is in operation
* Define SLAs which reflect high levels of service but which are also normally achievable
* Ensure that support arrangements and materials are effectively communicated to the business through the intranet and other mediums
* Work with IT team members to ensure that necessary environments are available and managed
* Working with the in-house training team develop appropriate and effective user training processes for each key user group
* Fully participate in and contribute to the effective running of 'fixes' and projects to develop the firm’s core business systems and processes, including implementation of a prioritisation process which allows resource to be locked-in to agreed projects through to delivery
* Working with various stakeholders to identify and document the most appropriate system solution for delivery of business requirements, minimising custom development as far as possible
* Ensure best practice is followed as regards the documentation and unit testing of any in-house development
* Ensure an effective configuration management process is in operation
* Work with HR, IT governance and Financial management team managers to ensure that adequate and appropriate controls operate across all system applications
* Manage the relationship with software providers to ensure satisfactory performance to contract terms
Technical
* Ensure that the business management application is maintained at the most appropriate level of release and ensure upgrades are effectively managed including business communication
* Work with IT colleagues to ensure that infrastructure is sufficient to ensure adequate performance and security of the business management system and the data therein
* Develop a network of HR/financial systems contacts across other large law firms and software suppliers
* Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requires and internal policies.
Key Skills & Experience
* Be able to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders and manage their needs and concerns
* Be able to develop a network of HR/financial systems contacts across other large firms and software suppliers
* Experience of managing new deployments, in Europe as M&A activities continue for the firm
* Agile, AI and DevOps experience is desirable but not essential
* Strong team management experience and previous experience of people management is essential
* Good team player – readily assists all members of the team to achieve team and individual objectives, particularly in busy periods
* Previous experience of working in professional services is highly desired
* Excellent planning and organising skills – able to handle multiple tasks
* Able to prioritise team and own workload to meet deadlines
* Microsoft Dynamics experience would be desirable
