Job Description
New Directions are looking for teaching assistants who are looking for work with pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) in Merthyr. We work with a range of schools who are either specialist schools, have a unit for pupils with ALN or require 1:1 support for pupils in mainstream settings with ALN. We have a range of part time, long term and day-to-day roles available.
As an ALN teaching assistant you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with diverse needs to help them reach their full potential. You will work in primary and secondary settings where your responsibilities will include providing 1:1 and group support to students.
Responsibilities
1. Working with other staff members to provide tailored support to students with ALN, including those with emotional and behavioural challenges.
2. Assist with getting the classroom prepared for lessons and ensuring all learning materials are readily available when needed.
3. Creating a stimulating and nurturing environment where students feel motivated and empowered to succeed
Requirements
4. A minimum of three months experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
5. Ideally experience or working with pupils with additional learning needs or an enthusiasm to begin
6. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with both pupils and staff
7. Eligibility to work in the UK
8. Possession of an enhanced child and adult DBS that is on the update service or willingness to run a DBS
9. Registration with the Education Workforce Council
