Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of people in NPT? We are currently looking for a Crime Prevention and Engagement Officer to join our team. As the Crime Prevention and Engagement Officer you will be part of a busy Community Safety Team, working alongside Council, Police and Fire service colleagues to support residents and businesses across the borough with crime prevention related advice and support. You will also develop ways to support businesses, preventing them from becoming victims of crime, and supporting those already affected. You will be responsible for coordinating the Business Crime Reduction Partnership scheme and any community based engagement events. Working in partnership with the Police, Fire Service and other responsible authorities, you will help to problem solve any crime and anti-social behaviour issues that may be disrupting the lives of those living in NPT.
The successful candidate will be responsible for –
Main purpose of job; To assist the Community Safety Principal Officer and wider Safer Neath Port Talbot Partnership in helping to deliver crime prevention engagement events, initiatives and campaigns with our local residents, whilst building our social media presence. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the development and coordination of the local Business Crime Reduction Partnership.
The main duties of the post;
1. To facilitate and attend engagement events as required.
2. To develop content for the Safer Neath Port Talbot webpage and social media accounts, working in accordance with the council’s social media policies.
3. To design and produce promotional material and newsletters for Community Safety related events, campaigns, and initiatives.
4. To assist the Principal Officer for Community Safety with the implementation of the new Community Safety Strategy for Neath Port Talbot, and it’s 6 priority areas.
5. To maintain good relationships with partner agencies, particularly South Wales Police.
6. To communicate and engage with local businesses, particularly members of the Business Crime Reduction Partnership, and South Wales Police to ensure fast and effective flow of information.
7. To manage the day-to-day operational requirements of the Neath Port Talbot BCRP, including the monthly BCRP exclusion review process and members meetings in Neath and Port Talbot town centres.
You will have experience in/of;
8. Experience of working in a multi-agency partnership environment, in particular Public Services such as Police, Fire etc
9. An understanding of community safety related legislation and current crime trends.
10. Knowledge of Business Crime Reduction Partnership processes, protocols and guidelines.
11. Experience of providing innovative solutions to complex problems, and the use of problem-solving techniques.
Ideally you will have;
12. A good standard of education to HNC, HND or equivalent, or an ability to demonstrate competence through experience.
13. Community Safety Qualification or similar
14. A professional marketing qualification or willingness to work towards
