The ED&I Manager is in the Organisational Development & Culture team supporting changes to support our colleagues. About the job? The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion manager is responsible for recognising, creating, and implementing plans to promote Equity, Diversity and Inclusion within GWR. A significant part of the role is developing interventions to enhance employee understanding on inclusion issues. You will be a key influencer in the organisation, often working with senior leaders to gain their commitment to initiatives which create long-term value for GWR both internally and externally. Your main responsibilities will be: Provide analysis and expert advice on how diverse our people practices and policies are, Work with our policy team to review and enhance our people policies and processes, Support the completion of diversity assessments of wider organisational practices and processes Support the existing employee diversity networks (and helping new ones establish) to ensure all groups have a voice in the organisation Create positive action interventions to support under‐represented groups Coach and upskill managers and employees on the value of diversity and inclusion Create diversity analytics to understand and track performance in the organisation, including legislative requirements Celebrate diversity through organised events and awareness sessions Track progress against our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy and action plan to ensure we meet our commitments and attain external recognition Revise and update all communication on our website, social media pages, job descriptions and internal documents to ensure we use non-discriminatory language Measure and forecast diversity metrics Support activities to attract diverse talent which includes representing GWR/rail industry at various career events (like job fairs) Work to deliver outreach programmes and work experience placements to provide skills and experiences to under-represented groups Carry out external benchmarking activities and compile an annual report that details our position and progress made to increase diversity and promote inclusion You'll need to be: An understanding and awareness of diversity and inclusion issues and best practice Good knowledge of labour and human right legislation Practical understanding of Equality Act 2010 Be an analytical thinker Have commercial awareness Be able to negotiate and influence at all levels of the business on difficult and emotive topics As a minimum, you will need to have: A commitment to promoting Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers through excellent communication skills, Experience working in a specialist Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion role That you are an excellent communicator and comfortable delivering training and presentations etc. Experience working with under-represented groups, in the Public Sector, or Not-for-Profit organisation That you have a good network or that you are willing to build up a good network with other D&I professionals externally Desirable: Project management and/or Change Management, or CIPD qualification (or equivalent) in HR, A level 6 qualification in relevant topic About the location? We work in a hybrid manner, however some travel across our network and to GWR offices will be required. Working Pattern? 21 hours a week. Please note that this is a job share role, with a one half of the job share already in position. We would also welcome conversations on flexibility of working arrangements and days.
