Role Overview:
Axcis are seeking a compassionate and experienced autism teaching assistant to join our mainstream primary school in Southall. In this role, you will provide personalised support to a child with autism, who is experiencing behavioural challenges. Despite these challenges, the child is inquisitive, thrives on praise, and builds strong relationships with adults who show interest in them. The ideal candidate will work closely with the child to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, helping navigate their current difficulties while fostering their curiosity and engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide tailored, one-on-one support, adapting strategies to manage challenging behaviours while promoting positive reinforcement.
2. Assist in classroom activities, ensuring their engagement and participation.
3. Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and specialists to implement personalised learning plans.
4. Use positive reinforcement and praise to build trust and motivate the child.
5. Track and report on progress, documenting behavioural changes and learning milestones.
Requirements:
1. Experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs, particularly in managing challenging behaviours.
2. Strong communication, patience, and interpersonal skills.
3. Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting children.
4. Relevant SEN qualifications or training are a plus.
5. A DBS on the update service is required.
