Job Title: Infotainment Application Engineer
Location: Cranfield
Salary: £29.00 per hour
We are recruiting for an Infotainment Application Engineer to join a globally recognised automotive company based in Cranfield. This is a long-term contract role, with the potential for the contract to run for several years.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Implement infotainment systems for vehicles manufactured in Europe.
2. Coordinate and develop vehicle-specific requirements with global teams in Japan and North America.
3. Generate and release In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) configuration data for European vehicles.
4. Manage Tier 1 suppliers to ensure product delivery meets quality, cost, and timing targets.
5. Oversee validation of components (both in-house and supplier) in compliance with design standards.
6. Collaborate with customer-oriented engineering teams to align global products with European customer requirements.
7. Work with sales and marketing teams to ensure technical solutions support business goals, and with purchasing to assist with sourcing and cost reduction tasks.
8. Ensure system components are properly packaged and connected to meet system design and regulatory standards.
9. Provide regular status reports to management at all levels.
10. Conduct design reviews at key project milestones.
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
2. Strong problem-solving skills, with practical experience using problem-solving tools and techniques.
3. Ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team, demonstrating teamwork and collaboration.
4. Customer-centric approach, using data and facts to inform decisions.
5. Autonomous worker, taking responsibility and proactively addressing issues.
6. Experience with automotive infotainment systems or similar ECUs (e.g., Meter/Cluster, Body Control Module).
7. Background in automotive electrical/electronic development, or experience in related industries like aerospace or telecoms.
8. Experience managing Tier 1 suppliers in the development of complex electronic products.
9. Excellent communication skills, able to work effectively in cross-cultural and cross-functional environments.
10. Knowledge of electrical theory and the operation of electronic devices.
11. Experience with software and hardware development.
12. Flexible regarding working practices and hours.
13. Willingness to travel abroad for short periods (typically a few days to 2 weeks, occasionally longer).
14. Competent in using PC applications such as MS Office.
Desirable Skills:
1. Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
2. Basic understanding of software development frameworks (e.g., Agile) and software quality assurance.
3. Understanding of electronic mass production techniques and processes.
4. Familiarity with CAD systems like IDEAS or NX.
5. Experience with Manufacturing BOM management.
6. Advanced skills in Office 365 tools, including Excel.
Nice to Have:
1. Relevant project management certifications (e.g., PMP, Prince2).
2. Knowledge of vehicle electrical and electronic architecture.
3. Basic understanding of systems engineering.

1. Monday to Friday
2. 39 hours per week
