McQuillan Environmentals UKAS 17025 accredited laboratory provides testing, monitoring and waste consultancy services to a wide range of industrial companies, environmental consultants, contractors, retailers and government authorities throughout Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and UK. Our services comprise testing of waste water, trade effluents, groundwater, surface water, landfill leachate, soil, waste and other products to assess their quality, impact on the environment and waste classification. Keyresponsibilities: Ensure all laboratory equipment is calibrated and operated in a safe and efficient manner to meet the pre-defined parameters as required by customers. Ensure that test materials are analysed in accordance with agreed methods. Analytical methods to include, but not restricted to, BOD, COD, pH, electrical conductivity and suspended solids and other general environmental analytical techniques Retain an up to date knowledge of analytical techniques and equipment. Participate in customer and regulatory audits to ensure that the laboratory meets the required standards to ensure ISO and UKAS accreditation. Ensure that tasks relating to quality standards and procedures are carried out in the specified manner. Ensure that activities are scheduled to provide an accurate and timely service to support production and business requirements Ensure adequate supplies of materials and consumables are available to support projects. Assist in the generation of specifications and SOPs relevant to the Analytical Laboratories, ensuring that current versions are available. Be responsible for ensuring that all analysis and associated tasks are performed in accordance with McQuillan Envirocare quality policies and procedures and are in accordance with the appropriate regulatory guidelines. Ensure that project information is controlled and distributed as per the relevant SOP. Ensure that all activities within the laboratory are performed in a safe manner in keeping with the Companys written procedures. Report all accidents or unsafe conditions in the workplace. Participate in Health and Safety training. Perform COSHH assessments for materials in the analytical laboratory. Meet and maintain quality objectives as set by UKAS In conjunction with their supervisor, train Analytical Laboratory Personnel as required. Responsible for ensuring project communications (e.g. e-mails, reports) are maintained and updated. Communicate regularly with their supervisor about incidents, quality failures, anomalies and timeframes. Essential Criteria: Educated to degree level in a science discipline OR HND in science discipline and 1 year appropriate experience in a similar environment OR 2 years appropriate experience in a similar environment. Experience in ICP-MS. Excellent communication skills: clear, effective and authoritative in spoken communication, high standard of written English, able to state a case clearly, logically and concisely. Ability to work in a team situation. Computer literate. Full UK driving licence. Desirable Criteria: Working knowledge of environmental laboratory techniques, including BOD, COD, pH and Suspended Solids analysis. Working knowledge of UKAS 17025 quality system.
