Job Description
About the role
We are currently looking for Metal Fitters/Machinists to join the team at our Ashburton plant.
The pay rate ranges from $38.50 to $50.40/hourly, based on experience and qualification.
You will be working a shift roster pattern 4 ON 4 OFF, 12-hour shifts, and will be either working on Day or Night shift. A night shift allowance of $20 per shift will be paid for any nights worked.
As a Metal Fitter/Machinist, you will be responsible for:
* Reading engineering drawings and specifications to determine requirements.
* Fitting and fabricating metal parts as per plant requirements.
* Cutting, threading, bending, and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
* Diagnosing faults and performing operational maintenance on plant equipment.
* Installation of new equipment.
* Accurately maintaining all documentation and records, both written and electronic.
* Being a point of contact on all day-to-day maintenance issues for the production equipment and any other services equipment.
* Ensuring company documented procedures and business rules are conformed to.
* Taking ownership of the quality system, food safety, and HACCP program.
* Ensuring all work is done with the correct work request paperwork and all information is provided.
* Ensuring all work is completed and reported with the correct reporting paperwork.
* Maintaining cleanliness as non-negotiable.
Qualifications
For this role, you’ll need:
* Trade certification qualification NZQA level 4 minimum.
* 4 years of experience in the trade preferred (3 years essential).
* Strong knowledge of building trades, cleaning procedures, and maintenance practices.
* Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
* Computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, MS Teams, Deputy, etc.
* CMMS experience (highly advantageous).
* Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
* Great time management skills.
* Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
* A team player with the ability to self-manage.
* Resilient, pragmatic, and proactive with a great eye for detail.
