To be a professional role model, leading and co-ordinating the PACU and department team. This involves managing a wide range of complex and sometimes conflicting priorities for PACU.
* To provide sound clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for the team, PACU/department and Trust wide.
* Provide specialist Perioperative advice Trust wide to support and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers in collaboration with the multi professional team, in line with the local and national targets.
* At all times ensure that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
* To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified.
* To support the Team Manager in delivering the needs of the team/service.
Main duties of the job
* To provide sound clinical leadership and develop support mechanisms for sharing good practice within the PACU/department and Trust wide.
* Maintain and promote effective communication with team and all members of the multi-disciplinary team and other departments. Communication will take place using formal and informal methods, including formal presentation of information relating to your Theatre/department.
* To demonstrate politeness, courtesy and sensitivity in dealing with patients/clients, visitors/relatives and colleagues, maintaining good customer relations.
* Participate in the Trust's organisational development plans to transform the hospital to meet the needs of the future; this will include upholding the shared values.
* Promote the corporate image of The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust to all individuals, groups and organisations both within the Trust and to the community at large.
* Using specialised knowledge ensure the clinical needs of patients are met. Communicates with patients, carers and the wider multi-disciplinary team and in so doing, acknowledges/accommodates barriers to communication and understanding including speech, hearing, language and emotion.
* To be able to care for patients in PACU.
* Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care, actively seeking evidence based practice which will support clinical outcomes as appropriate.
