Are you looking to advance your career in underwriting? Our Client, a market leading Syndicate with a distinguished, growing Cargo Underwriting team is seeking an ambitious Assistant Underwriter. This role is ideal for an experienced Underwriting Assistant or an Assistant Underwriter within the Cargo sector ready to grow within a high-performing syndicate.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll support underwriting operations, working within your authority and following syndicate guidelines. You'll assist with submissions, quotes, and slips, ensuring timely and accurate completion. Compliance checks on binding authorities and line slips will also be part of your duties.
You'll build strong relationships with brokers, underwriters, and senior management, supporting client visits and broker interactions – being mentored by some of the leading Underwriters in this market. Additionally, you'll generate reports, analyze data, and help create internal and external presentations. As you gain expertise in Cargo underwriting, you’ll take on additional responsibilities to support team success.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a candidate with experience in the Cargo market (Specie experience is a plus). Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks are essential. You’ll need to be a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ideal candidates will have data analysis capabilities, a good understanding of the Lloyd’s and/or London market, and be part ACII qualified or working towards it.
