Head of Interiors

B Corp certified, AJ100 Practice with studios across the UK is looking for an experienced Designer to lead their Interiors Division. This is an integral role, where you will be able to take ownership of a department and work closely alongside existing Partners.

In terms of projects, they work on a broad range of large scale, complex projects including park restoration, public realm, town centre regeneration, landscape-led master planning, housing, heritage, and sustainable placemaking.
The Role: You will lead, inspire, and manage the Interior Design team, driving the conceptualisation, design, and delivery of exceptional interior spaces that exceed client expectations and align with project objectives.
This senior role combines creative vision, strategic oversight, and operational leadership to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Acting as a key liaison between clients, stakeholders, and the design team, the Head of Interior Design will oversee all stages of the design process, maintaining design integrity, fostering innovation, and ensuring consistent technical and conceptual excellence.
Additionally, this role will contribute to the growth and development of the studio's Interiors business by managing the team's skill set, building strong client relationships, and collaborating with wider consultant teams to enhance the practice's reputation and success.
Desired Qualifications + Experience:
1. A Degree in Interior Design or equivalent relevant qualification (undergraduate and postgraduate preferred) with roughly 8-10+ years of significant PQE or experience in a Senior/Lead equivalent role.
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), AutoCAD, VectorWorks, and SketchUp; Revit skills desirable.
3. Knowledge of energy conservation and sustainable design practices.
4. Experience contributing to multi-disciplinary projects, including residential interior design.
5. Strong Design, Technical, and Construction understanding, able to produce technical drawings when needed to support.
6. Confident managing the full design process from concept to completion.
7. Studio and client management experience, including handling multiple large and complex projects.
8. Demonstrable experience working directly with clients, contractors, and multi-disciplinary design teams.
9. Business development experience, including capacity for work generation, client pitching, and revenue growth.
