Manager, Commercial Reporting & Analytics
Commercial
London, UK (HQ)
Permanent
The Role
As Manager, Commercial Reporting & Analytics, you will be responsible for overhauling our approach to commercial reporting. You will build and manage a suite of reporting dashboards that are accurate, reliable and easy to understand. Together with a team of 4 reporting analysts, you will lead the delivery of Deliveroo’s commercial reporting to frontline teams, provide leadership with performance reporting and insight-led, ad-hoc commercial analysis as required.
Beyond your own function, you will also be a key member of the Commercial Operations Management Team reporting to the Commercial Operations Director. As such, you will contribute to defining and embedding our wider approach to commercial enablement, in support of building a market-leading proposition for all of our restaurant and retail partners through our frontline teams.
What you’ll be responsible for
1. Defining and maintaining the definition and integrity of our commercial metrics, in collaboration with Data Science and Analytics Engineering
o Establish a consistent framework of commercial metrics that are used by commercial leaders in each of Deliveroo’s markets, aligned to the external metrics that our Partners see through our self-serve tools.
o Overhaul definitions for each commercial metric and build an accessible data dictionary for frontline teams.
o Maintain regular quality audits to ensure that any bugs impacting core commercial metrics are quickly identified and rectified with engineering teams.
o Manage the “go-to-market” of any changes to our commercial metrics so that commercial teams are well informed about any changes ahead of implementation and that the change management plan has considered “downstream” implications of the changes.
2. Building and delivering the suite of standard reports used by all frontline commercial individuals and commercial leaders across markets
o Drive the rationalisation of commercial reporting across Deliveroo by profiling different commercial personas to define their requirements.
o Build standardised dashboards and reports that meet at least 90% of the needs of each commercial persona, reducing the time spent by commercial teams on building and running their own reports.
o Identify and execute opportunities to standardise and “automate” partner-facing reporting (e.g. MBR / QBR performance reports).
o Deliver one-off performance deep-dives that do not require specialist Data Science capabilities for Leadership.
o Run regular quality audits to ensure any data errors are captured and rectified quickly.
o Maintain existing standardised partner reporting in the short-term whilst supporting the Restaurant Experience team to migrate into Hub in line with our product roadmaps.
3. Building, coaching and leading an exceptional Commercial Reporting team that is engaged, inclusive and high-performing
o Create a compelling vision with a strong sense of unity and desire to win together.
o Recruit and coach team members that are subject matter experts in their field, with high partner and customer centricity.
o Foster collaboration throughout the organisation, understanding the benefit and importance of strong functional and cross-market collaboration.
o Problem-Solving & Strategic Thinking: Consistently applies structured thinking to own and others' work. Provides thoughtful frameworks for weighing tradeoffs in unclear situations. Drives forward-thinking analyses. Coaches others in building blocks of strategic thinking. Understands the strategic implications of their work. Is able to anticipate risks and suggest ways to mitigate.
o Data Analytics: Highly numerate, able to translate business problems into data problems and design analytical products which help the business answer these questions at scale. Expert at selecting the right metric for the right problem, and communicating these effectively, even to non-technical stakeholders. Experience in BI tools (Looker / Tableau) and strong SQL skills is highly recommended.
o Project Management: Ability to manage and progress multiple complex projects in parallel that involve multiple stakeholders across markets and other Deliveroo functions.
o Delivery: Sets clear performance management framework and routines to ensure objectives are met, with escalation routes in place to resolve off-track issues. Builds a performance culture that celebrates successes while learning from mistakes whilst avoiding a “blame culture.”
o Change Management: Utilises a range of proven techniques to manage a diverse team through a series of change such that they consistently adopt new ways of working and the tools that support them.
o Communication & Influence: Builds trust and influence through structured, data-driven communication. Makes even the most complex information clear. Collaborates effectively across a wide range of teams and stakeholder groups. Demonstrates a confident presentation style and communicates effectively upwards and downwards.
o Team Development: A team player who readily collaborates cross-functionally and can resolve areas of misalignment or conflict between teams. Provides regular, constructive feedback to teammates to support team growth and talent retention. Effectively manages difficult interpersonal situations within the team.
o Community-Building: Actively participates in activities that strengthen Deliveroo (e.g. onboarding, training, mentoring, diversity and inclusion). Encourages team participation. Plays a growing role in attracting and hiring talent.
