We are looking to recruit a Planning Manager to join our team based in our West Midlands region.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
* Obtaining planning permissions on all submitted applications through successful management of applications, liaising with the LPA, internal team and external consultants.
* Providing detailed planning appraisals on potential immediate land, looking for opportunities to maximise land bids.
* Obtaining planning permissions and providing general Town and Country planning advice to the Technical Team and the wider business, where necessary.
* Co-ordinating disciplines within the Technical and Land teams for the programming and submission of planning applications.
* Managing external consultants (e.g. architectural, landscaping, ecological etc) for the preparation of required reports/appraisals to support planning application submissions.
* Liaising with Internal Planning Solicitor on the preparation of Legal Agreements.
* Managing and co-ordinating s106 Schedules and Planning Conditions Schedules with the Planning Assistant and Technical Team.
* Dealing with the LPA on complex planning matters and possible enforcement matters.
* Attending (and organising) key team meetings with internal colleagues.
* Attending Committee Meetings, public consultation events and community engagement with various interest groups.
* Day to day management of time and tasks.
Key Capabilities Required
* To have a sound knowledge and understanding of the planning process.
* To have excellent presentation and communication skills.
* To be a good negotiator and be capable of addressing a variety of audiences.
* The ability to mentor and guide junior members of the team.
* To be self-motivated, creative and positive.
* To be able to influence key decision makers.
Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications
* To be a qualified Town Planner, either MRTPI or MRICS P&D.
* To have worked for a house-builder or a consultancy with private house-building experience.
* Working knowledge of project plans, report writing, material forecasts and budgets.
* Qualified in Planning to degree level or by equivalent experience.
