About the Role
As Head of Engineering, you will lead and shape the engineering function for the Adviser business, building a multidisciplinary team to deliver robust, scalable, and innovative digital products. At an exciting stage of developing a greenfield architecture leveraging emerging technologies, you will play a key role in designing and implementing the future of Financial Advice technology.
Collaborating closely with the CPTO, Product, and Design teams, you will ensure products are resilient, high-performing, and aligned with user and business needs. Your responsibilities include defining the engineering strategy, managing end-to-end processes, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
Key Responsibilities
* Strategy and Vision: Define and implement the engineering strategy, balancing innovation with scalability, performance, and maintainability.
* Engineering Management: Oversee the entire development process, from concept to deployment, ensuring high standards and alignment with user needs.
* Product Development: Integrate user feedback, analytics, and best practices to deliver robust and user-friendly solutions.
* Team Leadership: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of growth and learning.
* Collaboration: Partner with CPTO leadership, Product, and Design teams to embed engineering into the product lifecycle.
* Standards and Best Practices: Define and uphold engineering standards, guidelines, and best practices across the team.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary contact for engineering discussions, clearly communicating insights and progress to stakeholders.
* Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate engineering-related risks to ensure project success.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and adaptability within the team to remain competitive and meet evolving user and market needs.

* Leadership experience in engineering teams within product-driven environments, with a proven ability to foster talent and build high-performing teams.
* Expertise in designing and implementing technical architecture and engineering processes that balance technical vision with business goals.

* Strategic thinking, with the ability to inspire a learning culture and raise the mindset and skills of engineers and colleagues.
* Strong collaboration and communication skills, partnering effectively with Product, Design, and other stakeholders.
* Passion for integrating user feedback and analytics into the engineering process to deliver high-quality, user-focused solutions.
