Please note: This role is 100% remote working.
Job Summary for the Role of Engineering Manager:
1. Plan, direct, and coordinate all design activities to ensure that goals or objectives of the design department are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
2. Support the review and approval process of engineering and design deliverables, as required.
3. Establish work plans and staffing for each design project and arrange for the assignment of design personnel.
4. Confer with design staff to outline work plans and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
5. Review status reports prepared by design personnel and modify schedules or plans as required.
Duties and Responsibilities of an Engineering Manager:
1. Liaise with other functional/departmental managers to understand all necessary aspects and needs of design personnel development and to ensure they are fully informed of design objectives, purpose, and achievements.
2. Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.
3. Developing policy duty of care and corporate responsibility formulation of direction and strategy.
4. Manage and develop direct reporting staff.
5. Manage and control departmental expenditure within agreed budgets.
6. Develop and implement strategies and processes designed to provide efficient and effective service.
7. Direct and integrate the activities of multiple design projects; ensuring that design efforts are generally cohesive, consistent, and effective in supporting company mission, goals, and strategic plan.
8. Develop and establish policies, strategies, and operating objectives.
9. Participate in and oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of individual design objectives and short and long-range plans; develop tracking and evaluation programs to assist in the accomplishment of established design goals and objectives.
10. Support the review and approval process of all engineering deliverables as required.
The Ideal Engineering Manager Will Ideally Have:
1. Extensive design experience across numerous industries (Offshore, Subsea, Marine, Onshore Structural Design & Fabrication).
2. Demonstrate engineering related business experience skills.
3. Excellent supervisory, man management skills and leadership qualities.
4. Ability to effectively manage a multi-disciplined team of engineers and support staff.
5. Proficient in identifying resource requirements and management of same.
6. Proficient in identifying and conceptualising innovative engineering solutions.
7. Ability to coach and mentor other members of the design team, workshop, and project engineering staff.
