The Payroll & Benefits Manager has sole responsibility for managing our in-house monthly payroll cycle, and benefits administration for our 950 employees across 5 UK entities. They will ensure all payroll and benefits processes are completed efficiently, on time and accurately and any nuanced issues are dealt with promptly and escalated if necessary. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the detail and working independently.
The position is based at SEGA HQ in Brentford, with a Hybrid Working model requiring 3 days per week in the office.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll
1. Full end to end processing of our monthly in-house payroll.
2. Working alongside HR contacts at each of the studios to collect payroll data and ensuring this is entered into the payroll system (Workday).
3. Manually entering data as and when required.
4. Paying the necessary disbursements (e.g. HMRC liabilities, court orders etc.).
5. Managing parental leave calculations.
6. Ensuring all tax year end processes are completed (P60s, P11D(b)s).
7. Processing the monthly pension upload.
8. Working closely with the Finance team for payroll reconciliations.
9. Consistently reviewing processes to ensure optimisation.
10. Working with the systems team to ensure the configuration of SEGA business processes in Workday meets payroll requirements.
11. Taking ownership for payroll compliance.
12. Being the main point of contact for any payroll queries.
Benefits
1. Managing the annual benefits renewal process.
2. Uploading necessary reports for our benefits provider.
3. Coordinating onsite days and virtual sessions (e.g. pension roadshows, health screenings, flu jabs).
4. Communicating benefits to employees, ensuring that SEGA staff are aware of the current offerings and informed of any changes.
5. Competitor and market research for new benefit providers or offerings.
6. Being the main point of contact for any benefits queries.
Other
1. Maintaining data integrity between our HR database, payroll system and benefits provider.
2. Collaborate with our benefits broker, systems teams and local HR to enhance and streamline payroll and benefits function.
3. Ensuring our process documentation is updated when we iterate and change existing processes.
4. Processing all invoices related to payroll and benefits.
5. Providing reports on payroll and benefits data to management and our studios.
6. Supporting the Senior Manager, Total Reward with any payroll/benefits projects.
Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
Essential
1. Considerable payroll experience.
2. Previous experience managing benefits.
3. Experience processing payroll via Workday Payroll.
4. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, with an in-depth knowledge of v-lookups and formulas.
5. Highly organised with an exceptional attention to detail.
6. Able to work towards deadlines and structure project work around payroll deadlines.
7. Confident managing payroll independently and working with local HR teams if issues arise.
8. Able to work independently.
9. Strong numerical and analytical skills.
10. Strong knowledge of UK legislation and regulations (Including SMP, SSP, pensions auto-enrolment and knowledge of average holiday pay).
Desirable
1. Previous experience working within a HR team.
2. Previous experience with Gender Pay Gap reporting.
3. Knowledge of payrolling benefits (PBIK).
4. A CIPP qualification.
