Senior Quantity Surveyor - The Role:
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the regional commercial team based between home, office, and site visits in the Gloucester/Bristol areas. You will be responsible for leading the day-to-day commercial aspects on two new build projects valued at £6 million and £2 million. This position will report to a Commercial Manager. Future projects could include residential, care homes, or commercial education, with excellent progression to Managing QS.
Typical duties & responsibilities:
1. To ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for the project.
2. Prepare the cost/value reconciliation reports accurately.
3. Prepare and agree interim valuations at the agreed dates to gain the best commercial advantage for the company.
4. Agree final accounts with subcontractors to maximize project margins.
5. Ensure subcontract orders are prepared in accordance with company procedure with reference to the date given on the procurement schedules and/or in accordance with the contract programme having achieved the appropriate approvals.
6. Maintain control of subcontractor accounts and minimize the cost of any variations.
7. Manage subcontracts in terms of valuation and correspondence.
8. To carry out duties as a quantity surveyor on projects as instructed.
9. Prepare turnover cash flow forecasts as directed by line manager at the commencement of all projects, updating as required and recording actual valuation achieved against forecast.
Senior Quantity Surveyor - The Person:
You will have solid experience with either a national or regional main contractor and reside within the Bristol or Gloucester areas. You should have demonstrable experience of delivering the commercial aspects of new build projects within budget and on schedule. Experience in main contracting is essential, as is managing a £7 million project or larger as QS. Experience in both residential and commercial sectors is beneficial. You should be innovative, with the ability to identify better ways of doing things, and be a good team player who wants to be part of a growing business to achieve common goals.
