Job summary This is an opportunity for an experienced obstetric consultant with significant leadershipexperience and a special interest in maternal medicine to provide strategic clinical leadershipacross the Kent and Medway Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS). The postholder willwork a wide range of local, regional and national stakeholders to support delivery of theambition to make services safer, more personalised and more equitable. The postholder will have responsibility and the opportunity to lead and influence qualityimprovement and transformation programmes in line with national policy and the 3 YearDelivery Plan for Maternity and Neonatal Services, across the four maternity provider Trustswithin the LMNS. In addition, the post will take a strategic focus as the system leadobstetrician in the Kent and Medway Maternal Medicine Network (MMN), currently part of theSouth East London MMN. Working with the LMNS Consultant Obstetric Physician, the MMNLead Midwife and the Trust site leads, where the aim is to ensure that women and birthingpeople with acute and chronic medical problems have timely access to specialist care. Main duties of the job o Work alongside and role model good multi professional behaviours working with obstetric colleagues and wider stakeholders across the LMNS to drive service change andtransformation in maternity and neonatal services through effective clinical leadership andengagement across Kent & Medway.o Focus on the quality of maternity services within the LMNS including sharing intelligenceand working with other key partners and regulators across and outside the system to improvequality of care and outcomes.o Be responsible for building partnerships and collaborating with provider Trusts, publichealth, local government, primary care, provider collaboratives, the SE London MaternalMedicine Centre and other partners, including local people to deliver better access,improvements in life outcomes and reductions in health inequity.o Work with the SE London Maternal Medicine Network leads as a part of the MMN leadershipteam, and alongside the system Consultant Obstetric Physician and the MMN Lead Midwife aspart of the system leadership team for the Kent and Medway MMN.o Be a member of the LMNS executive board and system governance groups to provideclinical advice and leadership to inform decision making, and chair clinically focusedprogramme and project groups where strong clinical leadership is key to achieving theoutcomes required.
