An exciting position has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Vocational Services team based in South Gloucestershire. We are an established and dynamic team working across the North Team at The Elms in Thornbury and the South Team in Kingswood Civic Centre. We work closely with both Recovery teams as well as supporting the other specialist mental health teams based in Kingswood Civic Centre.
We provide specialist vocational and employment related support to adults in the locality, providing a broad spectrum of support. This ranges from Job Retention for those people already in employment to supporting a person to develop meaningful vocational activity, such as volunteering or training. We also support people to prepare towards readiness for work. We can also support people to remain in their college/university course. The suitable candidate will be involved with our allotment group and walking group which are based in Kingswood.
Main duties of the job
We are currently looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and forward-thinking practitioner to join our team. Although the post is based within the Vocational Team, the candidate will be required to provide key working for some generic aspects of mental health care.
The Team is integrated with the South Glos Recovery Teams supporting adults of working age. The role will include working closely with a variety of professional agencies and linking in with third sector community groups. There will be a strong focus on employment-related activity, a knowledge of the benefits system, and liaising with employers. Occupational therapy skills are well suited to this position.
Applicants will preferably demonstrate experience and knowledge in the area and delivery of mental health care in the community, focusing upon the needs of service users, together with an understanding of mental health frameworks. Some knowledge and understanding of employment equality laws would be advantageous. The role of key worker will include tasks of undertaking high-quality assessments, developing plans, and risk management. You will act as a supervisor and role model to others. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate a high level of decision-making skills and to work independently. Applicants will need to be proficient with the use of IT systems for both data and documentation purposes.
