Job summary An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic Occupational Therapy team in the Guilford and Waverley Community Mental Health Team for Older People. We offer innovative, evidence-based, and outcome-measured occupational therapy. This post is suitable for those seeking their first Band 5 role or already working as a Band 5. You will be supported through supervision and Preceptorship to develop the knowledge and skills needed for a Band 6 role. The role involves delivering individual and group occupational therapy interventions, including: Lifestyle Matters Programme : A 20-session group using Lifestyle Redesign principles, recommended by NICE guidelines (2009) for Older Adults. Memory Matters Programme : A 6-session group for people with early-stage dementia and their carers, focusing on promoting a healthy lifestyle for the brain. Individual occupational therapy. Comprehensive occupational therapy assessments. We use the Model of Human Occupation to guide our assessments and interventions, with a focus on embedding occupational science and neuroscience into our practice. Our leadership team is committed to extensive CPD programmes, including robust supervision, Care Group meetings, Core Skills training, Reflective Practice groups, and an annual conference. While experience in mental health services is ideal, we welcome applications from occupational therapists with experience in other clinical areas who can bring transferable skills to this post. Main duties of the job Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the following: Provide high quality and evidence based occupational therapy assessment and interventions, both group and individual, to people who access services and their carers/supporters/family members, in line with the occupational therapy pathways. Communicate effectively with people who access services, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and when appropriate outside agencies. Contribute to the generic functioning of the team. To contribute to occupational therapy student placements. To contribute to occupational therapy student placements. To participate in service development and audits. Take on the role of lead professional as appropriate. The job will be within our Guildford/Waverley Older People Community Mental Health Team and be based at Berkeley House in Godalming. The postholder will be expected to work flexibly across the older people services to enable the delivery of the occupational therapy group programme.
