Working for a growing family business, delivering services across all utilities, your role is to support the efficient delivery and collection of equipment to our on-site teams, along with aiding our Warehouse team, as required. Operating a variety of commercial vehicles from panel vans up to 7.5 tonne beavertails and tippers, as well as towing a variety of equipment, including winches, drum trailers and small plant up to 3.5 tonne, you will have a minimum CE Driving License, full Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card. You will have a good working knowledge of drivers hours, safety regulations and traffic law, with a positive can do approach to work. Standard working week is 45 hours, Monday to Friday, with a need for flexibility to cater for operational needs. Key skills: Complete daily and first use vehicle checks. Report and manage vehicle defects through to timely completion. Record and report tachograph information in line with legislation. Physically capable of work involved in the safe loading and unloading of vehicles. Effective route planning to enable timely, safe, efficient and secure delivery of stock to a number of sites on a daily basis, ensuring that you keep a record. Developing good working relationships with site agents and on-site teams. Managing hours in line with Drivers Hours rules and Working Time Directive. Present a positive brand image by maintaining a smart appearance and clean vehicle. Provide additional support in the Warehouse or other areas as requested. A good problem solver, with the ability to use initiative to resolve issues as they arise, without compromising safety, or customer service. Excellent communication skills, keeping both the Warehouse and on-site teams informed. The ability to work on your own, or as part of a team. Maintains compliance with company policies and procedures. A working knowledge of statutory and regulatory policies associated with this role, eg. Data Protection, Health and Safety. A flexible and adaptable approach to work. Qualifications and experience: Minimum 3 years experience working as an HGV Driver. Good working knowledge of drivers hours rules, safety regulations and traffic laws. Experience working to delivery deadlines Computer literate with day to day operational experience using a handheld device. Experience working in the utilities industry ideal but not essential Additional: Clean HGV Licence CE Driver CPC Tachograph card Forklift qualification ideal, but not essential as full training will be provided.
