Social Worker - Mental Health Department: People Directorate Division/Section: Adult Services Location/Work Base: North/South Grade: 11 Who You Are You are a dedicated and experienced social worker with at least 12 months of post-qualifying experience working with people facing mental health challenges and their carers. You are well-versed in undertaking assessments of need, risk management, and have experience in handling complex casework and care management across health and social care settings. With a strong foundation in legislation, national guidance, and best practices, you hold a relevant social work qualification, are registered with CCW/CQC, and ideally possess training as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) or are willing to undertake it promptly. You demonstrate excellent communication and IT skills, possess the ability to manage crisis and conflict resolutions, and are committed to promoting equal opportunities, confidentiality, and non-discriminatory practices. You are able to build and maintain partnerships and effectively prioritize and manage your caseload. A current driving license is desirable given the need to travel extensively across the county. What the Job Involves You will be responsible for assessing and managing the complex needs of individuals with mental health issues and their carers, ensuring their health and wellbeing while promoting social inclusion. Your role involves collaborating with other professionals to provide seamless care pathways that safeguard and promote independence, conducting safeguarding investigations as required, and supporting the Local Authority in meeting statutory obligations under relevant legislation. As an AMHP, you will deliver on statutory requirements under the Mental Health Act 1983. Principal responsibilities include holistic needs assessments, maintaining caseloads, risk assessments, resource allocation recommendations, promoting social inclusion, investigating abuse, and working collaboratively with agencies. You will also ensure accurate record-keeping, manage immediate risk situations, and engage in direct assessments with individuals and carers. Your role demands a creative and holistic approach in exploring options, recording unmet needs, preparing reports, managing conflicts, and participating in interagency meetings. You are expected to contribute to professional community development, comply with Welsh language requirements, adhere to health and safety advice, and demonstrate continual professional development, including undertaking post-qualifying training. Your position requires an Enhanced DBS and ISA registration due to regulatory considerations.
