We’re excited to welcome a confident Family Solicitor to join our dedicated and passionate team in the heart of Hove (East Sussex). This is a fantastic opportunity for newly qualified solicitors who are eager to kick-start their careers or solicitors with 1-3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) to elevate their careers within a supportive yet forward-thinking environment.
This role will involve a range of family law services to include divorce, child custody, child law, child maintenance, cohabitation, adoption, separation, financial settlements and jurisdictional disputes. This role operates within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, under the guidance of our Director. The responsibilities for this role encompass managing your own caseload, with support from the wider civil litigation team.
Our Family Solicitor will also take an active role in amplifying our firm’s business development efforts through blog contributions and networking engagements. They will help develop our relationships with other legal professionals, clients, and family law groups in Sussex to help promote our family law services through online and offline channels.
A bit about you.
You will take an assertive, strategic and result-driven approach and be committed to fiercely advocating for our clients to ensure their interests are defended. You will have extensive knowledge of the family procedure rules and have experience in divorce proceedings. You will have experience drafting prenuptial and postnuptial agreements as well as handling financial and child custody negotiations. You will demonstrate an understanding of how property law, wills and estate planning intersect with family disputes, especially during divorce. You will have knowledge of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), mediation, and arbitration methods.
You will possess exceptional client-handling and negotiation skills, robust verbal and written communication abilities, and a commitment to establishing strong client relationships. You will demonstrate emotional intelligence and empathy during sensitive situations to build trust with clients whilst exhibiting confidence and discretion. You will have knowledge of safeguarding in domestic abuse-sensitive matters, child welfare and protective injunctions (such as non-molestation orders or occupation orders) ensuring that vulnerable individuals are protected throughout the legal process. You will exhibit meticulous attention to detail, along with exceptional time management and organisational skills to balance caseloads and adhere to strict court timelines.
Efficient file management is of utmost importance, including meeting deadlines, adhering to established precedents, and uploading letters and documents onto the case management system, therefore, proficiency in computer skills is a prerequisite for this role. Proficiency in using case management software, such as LEAP, is an advantage.
Being proactive in driving matters forward and keeping our clients, colleagues, and stakeholders well-informed of progress via email, telephone, letter, or in-person interactions are an integral aspect of this role. Your efficiency and articulate communication will ensure the highest service standards for our clients.
