About the Role:
Teaching Personnel are seeking a proactive and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support students who are not attending school. Your main responsibility will be conducting welfare checks for students who are absent from school, visiting their homes, and encouraging them to return to school. You will play a vital role in helping to improve student attendance, wellbeing, and engagement in their education.
This role will be for a local secondary school in Weymouth. Due to the nature of the position, you must have access to car to travel to various locations in Weymouth/Portland.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct welfare checks at students' homes, using door-to-door visits to identify and address the reasons for their non-attendance.
* Build positive rapport with students and their families, offering encouragement and support to return to school.
* Write clear and detailed notes for the school regarding each welfare check, documenting relevant information and any follow-up actions required.
* Work closely with school staff to communicate student progress and any concerns or challenges encountered during visits.
* Encourage a supportive environment where students feel comfortable discussing barriers to their education.
Skills and Experience Required:
* A strong understanding of the importance of education and student welfare.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
* Ability to work independently and manage your own time effectively.
* Strong note-taking and reporting skills.
* A positive, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to student welfare.
* Experience in a similar role or within an education setting would be an advantage.
* Must have access to a car and a full UK driving license to travel to various locations within Weymouth & Portland.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
