Role
An opportunity to join our fantastic Engineering team here in DCC and make a real difference by bringing your Systems Engineering experience to deliver the next generation Smart Meter and IoT Ecosystem.
Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering In Life Change, you will be accountable for developing and maintaining the key system engineering policies, principles, framework and artefacts. You will direct, coach and support project teams in how best to align with DCC's Systems Engineering adopted INCOSE framework standards.
Working alongside the Technical Delivery Leads and DCC architects, you will drive adoption of the INCOSE Systems Engineering framework by engaging with and influencing key project stakeholders in the value that systems engineering will bring to DCC customers.
You will be responsible for helping us develop our existing Enterprise Architecture tooling, leveraging your ArchiMate/UML skills to help us deliver an agile enterprise architecture fit for the future.
We would like you to be familiar with INCOSE certification and, if not already certified, be on the path to ASEP certification as a minimum.
You will be empowered to shape the adoption of Systems Engineering within DCC. Working with the Technical Management Team, you will have the freedom to create and adopt policies to shape this role to ensure we deliver maximum value for DCC and our customers.
This role is a hybrid working model (2 days office based, 3 days remote based per week) and attendance in London, Manchester or Nottingham DCC offices will be required to attend Team workshops.
A few of the things you will be doing
1. Responsible for the evolution of Systems Engineering principles, artefacts, processes and framework in DCC.
2. Responsible for evolving the SEMS/SEMP as the various projects evolve through DCC's System Engineering Life Cycle.
3. Coaching all actors (internal and external) involved with delivering engineering artefacts into DCC's chosen Enterprise Tool (Bizzdesign) using ArchiMate/UML.
4. Evolving the Way-of-Working in DCC to streamline System Engineering adoption and improve the quality of delivered artefacts.
5. Working collaboratively to ensure that the SE model aligns with DCC's Portfolio and Assurance towers to drive best practices and reduce complexity.
6. Assuring the System Engineering artefacts with the Technical Delivery Leads and ensuring they can pass the DCC Governance.
7. Being the critical point of contact for everything related to Systems Engineering delivery in DCC and providing guidance, mentoring and advice to the business.
8. Supporting the administration function in ensuring that the right SE training is identified and delivered by the relevant training partners.
A few of the things we are looking for

2. Demonstrable experience in a large to medium scale System Engineering implementation and a critical thinker.
3. Experience in the adoption and transformation of new standards across organisations.
4. Understanding standards-based Systems Engineering, e.g., ISO 15288 / INCOSE Systems Engineering handbook.
5. Experience in leading and managing Engineering matrix teams across multi-technology, multi-party solutions.
6. Excellent stakeholder management, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to various stakeholder groups, including non-technical audiences.
7. Able to see and articulate the bigger picture, but also capable of delving into the detail where necessary.
8. Experience in enterprise modelling, e.g., ArchiMate and UML.
9. Experience in Governance of System Engineering artefacts.
