The person we are looking for will be a Payroll professional, preferably with a payroll qualification or AAT qualified with comprehensive and recent experience of managing and running a large payroll, preferably with NHS pension knowledge.
The personal skillset for this role requires a professional and credible team player with the ability to work independently and deliver on deadlines and sudden pressures whilst maintaining accuracy. They must have the ability to inspire confidence and hit the ground running.
This is an onsite position based either at Martlets Hospice in Hove or St Barnabas House in Worthing with presence at our other sites as required. Due to the location of our Hospices, access to your own transport is essential.
Main duties of the job
This role will manage the payroll team of 2 assistants and together ensure accurate and timely end-to-end payroll operations for the group. Working closely with the People Services department and the Head of Finance, they will ensure that Southern Hospice Group meets all its statutory and fiscal obligations in the remuneration of its staff. They will offer staff-focused payroll and NHS pension advice and support the needs of the individuals across all stages of the payroll and pension lifecycle. They will be responsible for the development of the team and support managers with payroll information.

Qualifications
* Good standard of general education to GCSE level or equivalent.
