Job summary
Bury Community Occupational therapy are looking to recruit 1 Part time (22 hrs per week) Band 6 Occupational Therapist to assist in the assessment and treatment of patients in the community who have a wide variety of health needs.
The post holder will participate in the delivery of assessment and rehabilitation programmes to community based patients across a range of acute and long term conditions. There will be the opportunity to gain experience and develop skills in the specialist areas of Palliative Care, Rheumatology and Long COVID / Respiratory .You will have the opportunity to work closely with Interdisciplinary teams across the Therapies directorate and participate in NCA wide cross borough learning within specialties.
You will be based within a service committed to service development, delivery of high quality patient care and investment in clinicians seeking to develop clinical expertise in a community setting. You will have access to a robust training /development programme and clinical supervision to support professional progression.
The Community OT Team are actively involved in Patient experience and Quality Improvement initiatives. You will be supported to contribute to QI, Audit and service improvement processes.
An ability to travel to different geographical locations across the Trust footprint in line with service needs is required. A full UK driving licence and access their own vehicle is therefore essential for this community role.
Main duties of the job
1. To work as an autonomous practitioner, to be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of work including the management of a varied community caseload.
2. To perform high quality responsive specialist assessment and treatment of Community Patients accessing the Adult Community OT service either in their own homes or other appropriate clinic locations in the community.
3. To be responsible for empowering and enabling patients in the community to manage their condition and develop and meet their goals.
4. To lead on service developments relating to relevant professional areas for development and support with other team initiatives.
5. To provide clinical supervision, as per the team structure for other members of the team. Also, to supervise individual students and undertake the practice educator role and to provide assessment and support to other staff taking students on placement with the service.
