About the role
The purpose of the day shift Vehicle Examiner at our Bradford depot is to ensure the delivery of effective and efficient examination standards in accordance with Central Engineering Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will carry out Inspection tasks, according to standard processes, and when you see improvements, you will help build / contribute to improving Technical Publications. At the end of each shift, you will join a shift review meeting to solve the problems you and your team have come across during the shift.
Key Accountability & Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and motivation to the vehicle examination team.
To carry out Maintenance and Safety Audits.
To fully comply with all HS&E legislation along with Group policies.
To fully comply with all relevant Engineering SOPs.
Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used.
Carry out vehicle servicing and minor repairs.
Be fully conversant with the overhaul and repair of vehicle electrical systems, including engine management, automatic/semi-automatic gearboxes, electronic braking, suspension, electronic destinations, multiplex wiring systems and E.C.U.
Be fully familiar with all relevant diagnostic equipment including multi meters, temperature gauges, micrometres, vernier gauges and E.C.U. diagnostic computer equipment.
Working hours : 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 06:00 to 14:00
About you
You must have a minimum NVQ Level 3 standard qualification or equivalent certificate, and working experience in the role.
You must be aware of the DVSA standards for both the categorisation of defects (Spot checks/enforcement) and annual test.
You must be willing to attend appropriate underpinning training opportunities such as NC in Supervisory Management and Engineering and/or Corporate Membership of IRTE, and to complete them to the suitable standard within an agreed timescale (First Bus will assist in you obtaining these).
Do you hold full PCV licence? not essential as we offer PCV training.
You must have a valid UK drivers licence.
