Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant – SLCN - Hounslow We are seeking a Specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Hounslow. In this role, you will provide dedicated support to students with sensory and speech difficulties, helping them access the curriculum and succeed in the classroom. Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 and group support for students with sensory and speech difficulties, helping them engage with classroom activities and the wider school community. Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and work with teachers to adapt lesson materials to meet the specific needs of students. Work closely with speech and language therapists and other external professionals to provide comprehensive support for students' communication needs. Help students with sensory impairments navigate the classroom environment and ensure they are fully included in school life. Monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, the SENCO, and parents. Foster a positive and supportive learning environment where students feel confident and capable of achieving their best. Experience and Qualifications: Experience working with students with sensory impairments and speech difficulties in a school or educational setting. Knowledge of SEN strategies, particularly in supporting communication and sensory needs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting students with special needs. Relevant qualifications in SEN support or teaching assistance are desirable. A DBS check is required.
